Nothing here helps you FILL your iPod with fresh stuff - for that I'd recommend <a href="http://www.thefilter.com"> The Filter </a> and MyStrands

mmm Jay says: 06:39 / 15 mar 2007
Hey Jay, why don't you try using iTunes to burn your purchased songs to a CD. Here's the instructions from the help menu:1) To create an audio CD:Choose iTunes > Preferences, click Advanced, and click Burning.2) Select Audio CD as the Disc Format.3) To have all the songs on the CD play at the same volume, select Use Sound Check.Click OK.4) Select the playlist containing the songs you want to burn to the CD, and make sure all the songs you want to include on the CD have a checkmark beside them.5) Click Burn CD (at the bottom of the iTunes window) and insert a blank disk.- If the playlist contains more songs than will fit on the CD, iTunes burns only the number of songs that fit on one disc, and then asks you to insert another disc to continue burning the remaining songs.- If the playlist includes Audible spoken programs with chapter markers, the chapters are burned as separate tracks.

Only one of these is actually free...the rest are shareware or demoware. I don't see the purpose to paying for any of these. As for a means of removing the itunes copy protection Jay. Check out http://hymn-project.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1553 That should get you what you need. DRM is for people that aren't smart enough to remove it. Down with the RIAA, the MPAA, and DRM!

Andre says: 06:46 / 15 mar 2007
What about Sharepod? That app is real cool.

Good list. Have a look at iPodifier, tho (http://ipodifier.com). It really simplifies the process of getting TV content from DVR apps like SageTV, BeyondTV or even Tivo onto your iPod.

Your forgot to include SongBird, which is currently in development and will be a superb application once its out of developer preview beta.http://songbirdnest.com/

Shuffle-db (shuffle-db.sourceforge.net) is a fantastic open source application for your shuffle. You put a small file on your shuffle, then copy your music over from any computer, and run the executable once. Quick, easy, painless.

Ron Zalonis says: 08:55 / 15 mar 2007
You forgot another great copy utility. CopyPod! CopyPod is the best iPod backup I have used, and is truly a simple to backup music to your computer without losing your tags. There is even a suite of utilities tha' includes CopyPhoto to back up all your iPod photos! THIS is the way to go in iPod utilities.http://www.copypod.net/index.php

Frank says: 09:48 / 15 mar 2007
For filling your ipod I use Bossa. www.mybossa.com. It has a playlist generator that's super easy to use and fast. It can also automate the music you play through itunes. As far as bypassing the protection on iTunes bought songs, you can burn songs that you've bought to a cd and then import them back into iTunes as an mp3. It takes some time and the quality of the song sucks. As a matter of fact, it's amazing that people don't have a problem paying 99 cents for a crappy 128k AAC file!

eno says: 09:48 / 15 mar 2007
what about an app that will let me tag multiple videos at once. I am tired of going through my videos one by one just to change the video kind.

Chris says: 10:03 / 15 mar 2007
I use <a href="http://www.zamzar.com">Zamzar</a> (http://www.zamzar.com) to convert videos to an iPod ready format - it's free and online.

You don't mention foobar2000 with the foo_dop component. This list will never be as cool as it could be.

kingofsf says: 11:41 / 15 mar 2007
would be cool to see this geared towards linux.

Kara says: 12:32 / 15 mar 2007
I'm biased, but I have to lobby a vote for <a href="http://www.mogopop.com">Mogopop</a> - lets you basically make mini-websites for iPods with a free 50MB account. There's already a ton of stuff there, also downloadable for free.

Christ says: 13:57 / 15 mar 2007
Would be nice to see this geared towards MAC.As windows is teh sUX0r.
