I have a desktop with cable modem . I have a router and wireless laptop. I want to pack away my desktop and only use my laptop. How do i set my router to work without the desk top if it is possible.

The cable that comes in your house with the internet must be connected to the router. Then the laptop will connect wiressly to the router. You should check on its manual how to configure it.
