You cannot share your portable hard drive with the Y usb cable to 2 computers. The usb Y cable is used to split an USB into 2 . You can connect your HDD to one computer with an USB cable and connect the 2 computers with a network cable(or you can connect your computers each other with an USB cable and install special drivers) to share data.
