How can I download high definition YouTube videos?

Question Details:

By entering &fmt=18 at the end of a video in youtube allows you to watch that video in high def. However, how do you download that video in high def? I've got the various plugins etc from Firefox which allows me to download youtube videos. However, despite them allowing you to download the video, it's not in high def.

Answer:

A side effect of recent higher quality Youtube videos is that most videos can be downloaded as MP4 files directly from YouTube.
