According to the Microsoft Knowledge Base article, a security update is available that modifies the default behavior of Internet Explorer for handling user information in HTTP and in HTTPS URLs, a security update can cause the problem.
In
the article there are instructions for both a workaround and a registry edit to disable the behavior that causes the problem.
The invalid syntax error could be a javascript bug. You might try turning off javascript. Also, if you have a popup stopper, the error may be coming from there.
If the problem persists you should check for:
- Registry Errors
- Spyware
- Adaware
- Virus/Trojan
- Installed third party application add-ons to your internet browser
- Visited a site that forced add-ons (Settings/View Objects in IE)
You could also try to repair or reinstall your
Internet Explorer or try another browser like
Firefox.
