what do I do now? My computer doesn't work

I called emachines, which is the manufacturer o fmy computer and explained to them tht everytime i tried to do a network diagnostic to scan my computer, i was getteng an error box-telling me that helpctr.exe component not found-the application failed because framedyn.dll not found and i also have applications that are hanging, so they (emachines) told me that i needed to do a complete system recovery and that they would walk me through it.

They had me install the microsoft windows xp home edition(operating system disc) that came with computer, then restart my computer and follow onscreen directions, which asked me to insert disc #1(this is the backup i made of applications/drivers) i have a total of(4) backup discs i made when i first got computer, anyways i installed disc #1, after that it asked for disc #2 and from there it kept asking me to insert disc#1, then disc #2 and then disc #1 again, it never asked me for disc #3 or #4. turn out was an incomplete recovery, i can't remember the exact error, but a file to complete recovery was missing and emachines told me that the (OS) disc that came with computer was apparently no good. now my (D:) drive shows as being recovery(D:), not sure why since complete recovery failed, but i see this as a big problem, because each day another file seems to disappear and i''m getting yet another error box and more hanging applications.

They said they would send me new discs, but that has been over 8 days ago. i need to know what you think about this. they did tell me that even though they are the manufacturer of my computer, they know very little about the xp, they mainly deal with the vista. i think its possible they may have had me do something wrong, as far as starting the recovery. i mean i can''t be 100% certain since i''m new at this myself, but since the recovery did fail, i don''t think it should have affected my(D:)drive, but it did. if you have any idea what i can do now, please let me know.

Answer:

They probably did something wrong. We suggest to back up all your files on some DVDs or on a stick and reinstall yourself Windows on the computer.

You need to have a Windows XP cd. You can download it from the Internet. The instructions on how to install Windows can be found here.
