Possible solutions:

1.Click My Computer -> Control Panel -> Network And Dial-Up connections -> Right click Local Area connection -> Properties -> double click tcp/ip and make sure Optain DNS server adress Automatically is selected.

2.v Right click My Computer ->Properties> Network Identification (tab)> Properties Button.

Make sure you are in the Workgroup membership and the workgroup name is Workgroup. Also go to "More" and make sure Change Primary DNS suffix when domain membership changes is Unchecked. Be sure you don't have a primary dns suffix on the computer.

Make sure it is running:

Go to My computer -> Control Panel> (switch to classic view) Admin tools-> Services

Make sure DHCP Client, DNS client, Network Connections, Remote procedure call(rpc) re all started with automatic. To do this double click the item, click Start and make sure start up type is automatic.


3. Open Notepad (Start -> Run -> Type in 'Notepad')

Copy the following in green to Notepad:

Go to File -> Save As. Change Save As Type to All Files. Save the file with the name fixsearch.reg

Save the file to a location that you can remember.

Close Notepad

Find that file, double click on fixsearch.reg. Click yes when it asks if you want to merge.

Restart your computer
