Question details:
I ripped a DVD of mine to my computer into MP4 format for an Ipod. When ever i double click the the folders for any ripped DVD the box freezes and I have to open the Task Manager to close it and the computer continues normally. I can open any folder but those ones. I would like to fix the problem so I can easily access these files. I have windows XP SP2. I used Magic DVD Ripper to rip the DVDs. Each DVD folder is larger than .5 GBs.
Answer:
This probably happens because the folder you are trying to open is too large and your computer needs a long time to process the information. It is possible that the computer you are using is low on virtual memory and physical memory and can't handle the amount of information.
Try to
speed up your computer, defragment harddrive, scan your computer for viruses, and
increase virtual memory.
Updated answer:
It seemed that the real reason for freezing was the application Windows Live Photo Gallery. When the user was trying to open a folder with many .mp4 files the computer was freezing. After uninstalling it the problem was fixed and it no longer freezes or even lags at all.
