Why my monitor turns off when I boot to Windows?

Question Details:

After displaying windows vista logo the monitor led changes from green to orange and cuts off display however the computer is still running. I was using 1280x1024 on my old monitor. Currently I,m using new with max resolution of 1440x900

Answer:

We think that your screen resolution or your video card or display drivers cause that problem.

To enter Safe Mode when you turn on your computer start tapping the F8 key until a Safe Mode boot option appears. After you enter in Safe Mode reinstall your video card and display drivers ( be sure to use Vista drivers)

Restart your computer again.

If you still can't boot to Windows, go again in Safe Mode and change the resolution to a lower value. It could be that your chosen resolution is incompatible with your monitor.
