Question Details:
I have an Acer Aspire 5315 notebook and recently uninstalled my modem software (Qcom) and now cannot get it to reinstall. It skips to the end of the installation and asks me to reboot now that the installation is complete. I have tested the disc on another computer and there is no problem with the disc. I have used Hijack This to remove all traces of the modem software.
I have also tried installing something else (Belkin Bluetooth Software) - it did install but not easily - warnings appeared saying the software was not recognised and giving two options - do not install or install anyway - I chose the second option but it just kept asking the question over and over again - I eventually chose 'do not install' - it then finished the installation!
Answer:
When the driver you are trying to install is not validated by Microsoft you get those two options: Do not install or Install anyway. Most of times you should choose 'install anyway'.
It is possible that the driver you are trying to install is not supported by Vista and that causes the problems. We suggest to update Vista witl the latest updates from the Microsoft website and try not to install the driver from the disc. Go to Qcom website and download the newest version of the driver from there and install it.
