Question Details:
In preparation for writing trip, I've successfully copied my research and writing folders to thumb drives (same docs on each). However, my laptop cannot read those folders. How can I remedy this situaton?
Answer:
If you try to connect a mouse or other Usb devices on the port and they work, it seems that you have a problem with the USB stick and not the port.
The best thing to do is to try to plug in the stick in another computer's usb port and see if it works.
If the usb port works here are some possible solutions:
1. Try to reinstall again your motberboard drivers and USB drivers.
2. Check to see if the devices are working in another USB port. Mabe the one you are using got damaged.
3 Right-click on your My Computer and go to Manage and see if the USB drive shows up under Storage ->Disk Management. If so, right-click on it and select Change Drive Letter and Paths and manually give it a name like Z: or something.
From there then, also make sure you don't have Daemon Tools running (or something similar) on the problem machine. It could be it's trying to map it to a drive letter that a fake DVD drive is already using up.
