Disconnected battery in attempt to bypass password protection, now comp will not even turn on.What can I do?

Question Details:

I reinstalled the battery correctly but now the comp will not start up at all. Did I wipe out the CMOS by disconnecting the battery? The motherboard is an ELITE K7SEM .I am trying to get it running for a friend and am afraid I made things worse. Thanx for any help you can provide me. ( anywhere I can look for a manual online to help me out? I haven't had much luck so far)

Answer:

By removing all power to the Bios/CMOS you are forcing it to reset itself to its stored defaults, which include no password or the default password employed by the Bios manufacturer.

After you put the battery back the system should be OK.

We do not know exactly what happened. Maybe you touched something while removing the battery.

We didn't find on the Internet a manual for your motherboard.
