When choosing between an TFT monitor and an CRT the advantages in favour of the CRT monitor are slim or none.

A TFT monitor has the following advantages:

- consumes much less energy
- wont iradiate you with electromagnetic radiation
- they have better image accuracy
- wont notice any flickering unlike the CRT's
- they are very light and very small in size.

The disadvantages of a LCD/TFT monitor are:

- poorer viewing angle
- problems with the response time, usualy at LCD/TFT monitors with response time greater then 8ms
- slightly less accurate colors

Conclusion:

LCD/TFT monitors are becoming the standard because they are healthyer for the user, they consume less energy, they are small and compact, they give better image accuracy to the user, and they don't flicker so they dont damage the human eye.
