Question Details:
Asus Crosshair Mobo AMD 64 X2 5600+ 4GB OCZ PC 6400 RAM - 800Mhz 2 XFX GeForce 8600GT 256MB video cards 2 WD 36GB Raptor 10k RPM drives 2 WD 250GB SATA 300 7.2k drives Windows Vista Home Premium So I try to run in SLI and the video cards turn off then on again during even moderate loads. I run in single card mode most of the time just because it seems more stable. Are the cards defective? They seem to work fine on standard tasks... Any thoughts? I've toyed with having someone who considers themselves an "expert" on system building just rebuild the thing from the ground up, burn it in with benchmarking software and tweek it to get the best performance... Is that advisable?
Answer:
It is possible that the video cards are not woking well during moderate load because the drivers are not so good or some application on your computer prevents that. We suggest to reinstall your video card drivers.
About the expert you are saying he could benchmark your Windows to run faster but we don't recommend to tweak the hardware components because from what you are saying you have a very good computer and doesn't need hardware tweaks. Sometimes hardware tweaks make it unstable.
