Question details:
I just bought this laptop, used. it says it has integrated wireless card internet ready with WiFi.
I thought WiFi was something you paid monthly but they gave me no indication of this. I turned on the computer at home and it autimatically connected me to the internet. I however, do not have wireless internet at home. So, I disconnected right away.
But I wanted to make sure this isn't something that is illegal on this computer. If it is can I have it taken out by a computer place? Otherwise what are my options to get it legally hooked up to the internet and how do I go about making sure it is a secure connection. I will be using it not only for personal things but work items as well.
I work in a government medical agency for Developmentally Disabled people and want to be sure NOTHING is hacked into. I need the best security possible. Any suggestions that can be given would be greatly appreciated.
Answer:
When they said you have integrated Wifi they referred that you have a network card capable of receiving wireless Internet signal. You were
connected to the Internet because probably there is a wireless network near your. We suggest it not to use that network because it can be unsecured.
If you want to access internet securely you should contact an Internet Service Provider to install an internet connection in your home. We suggest that access to your wireless Internet to be made with a password to be more secured.
