Do I need a high speed usb port?

Question Details:

I bought an external dvd rw and it says I need to connec it through the usb high speed port, my dell laptop does not have HIGH speed usb port and I cannot get the external device to work, can I get anything to make my port high speed or do I need to upgrade my laptop which is new by the way.

Answer:

You need an USB 1.1 to USB 2.0 converter in order to use your external device. You can buy it from a computer shop.
